چکیده

Diversified crop rotation is an option for expanding producer incomes, and its adoption has presented a series of agronomic advantages compared to less diversified systems. In this context, the objective study was verify if higher-diversified systems perform economically better than low-diversified ones. To end, we conducted experiment in no-tillage areas Londrina, south Brazil, years 2014/15 2016/17. The design randomized blocks, with six treatments, consisting different levels diversification, four replications. We observed that yield higher revenues profits. Only these systems, specifically ones included canola-corn, crambe-corn, safflower-soybeans, or wheat-corn+brachiaria, edible beans-soybeans were feasible. Despite cost, greater number commercial crops winter However, high proportion cover are infeasible because their net return negative.

Nitrogen management strategies for smallholder maize production systems: Yield and profitability variability

Maize (Zea mays L.) production requires large amounts of nitrogen (N) thatdirectly affect production cost. Poultry litter can be used as an alternative source ofN. To optimize its use, poultry litter requires technical and economic feasibilityanalyses. Crop simulation models have proven to be efficient tools to support thistype of research. The objectives of this study were to determine yield a...

Co-existence of agricultural production systems.

Strategies and best practices for the co-existence of GM and non-GM crops need to be developed and implemented with the participation of farmers and other stakeholders. According to the principle of 'subsidiarity', decisions should be made by the lowest authority possible. When applying this concept to the case of GM crops, the affected society should determine their use and management in a reg...

Soil solarization in various agricultural production systems

Soil solarization is a natural, hydrothermal process of disinfesting soil of plant pests that is accomplished through passive solar heating. Solarization occurs through a combination of physical, chemical, and biological mechanisms, and is compatible with many other disinfestation methods to provide integrated pest management. Commercially, it is used on a relatively small scale worldwide as a ...
